All of these tiny black insects try to enter your homes through any possible entrance. And there are special factors that attract them to your house

Carpet beetles

Young beetles have brown-and-white stripes or dots. They're called variegated carpet beetles.  They lose their spots and turn black or brown with age. Carpet beetles only enter lay eggs on wool, silk, fur, and leather


Booklice are moisture bugs.  Booklice seek warm, damp locations to live in the summer.  These will be seen your bathroom, kitchen, and laundry room. Booklice invade pantries. They enter dry food containers and jars also

Clover Mites

Clover mites are the smallest window bug. You  need a magnifying glass to see them. They populated in window sills. They'll use window cracks to enter. They reproduce very quickly

Asiatic Garden Beetles

The invasive Asiatic garden beetle is from Japan. The Asiatic garden beetle has expanded from Indiana to Ohio. These beetles destroy flowering plants. This beetle feeds at night. They leave chewed leaf edges

Rice Weevils

Rice weevils Invade pantries. Rice, cereal, fruits, and nuts are their favorites. Rice weevils lay eggs in stored food. Rice weevil larvae eat and poop on stored food. Infestation by rice weevil larvae creates a slight odour and white lumps

Winged Termites

You've found nuisance or non-damaging bugs till now. Winged Termites cause $3 billion in damage annually, also enter homes through windows. Winged termites on window sills are a strong sign of a termite infestation

Winged Ants

Winged ants work like termites. Winged ants leave their colonies to infest another property. Ants are drawn to light. These ants will mate and lose their wings in your home


Gnats live in organic waste.  Gnats gather around windows to enter homes. Extreme dryness drives these black flying bugs indoors.  Indoor potted plants may have gnats. Gnats eat human blood. Reproduction and egg-laying need blood

Drain Flies

Clogged kitchen, bathroom, and basement drains attract drain flies.  Unprotected fridges and dishwashers might attract flies. Drain flies like moist areas. Drain flies typically gather on windows when they multiply inside

Fruit Flies

A fermenting layer of trash attracts fruit flies. Ripe fruits and vegetables attract fruit flies. They are in common in the kitchen.  Fruit flies spread diseases like drain flies

Phorid Flies

Phorid flies also breed in damp organic garbage outside. Phorid flies enter homes through cracked window sills, door frames, and foundation gaps. Their presence in households is harmful because they can contaminate food with infections.


Springtails are pests. They're active year-round and seek wet spots to breed. They want a moist area to reside throughout the summer. Summertime moisture on window glass attracts springtails

Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants invade houses. These ants need human food, sugar, and water. Carpenter ants don't chew wood. Eggs were drilled into wood. Moisture from rain or leaks is good for the window sill and frame
